Great Value

The Short Film

The Pre-Production

The process began at a slow pace. We started out with coming up with ideas on what to do with our short film. We came up with multiple ideas at first which we then narrowed it down to two ideas. Our group could not agree on the idea we wanted to do but after a couple of days we finally agreed on a idea which was what our final product came out to be. We then began script writing for the short film and brainstorming film ideas and such.

The Idea

The idea of this film had me questioning at first whether this was going to be a good film or not but with the final product I think it turned out to be a decent funny film. So here is the plot. It starts out with a group of amateur people who attempt to make a commercial for a water bottle. Ben is the director of the commercial who thinks he is a big time director. Brian is a actor who thinks he is big time as well and wants all the fame in the commercial. Tom is the guy rocking the camera and he as well thinks he is one of the best filmer's around but in reality he is awful. In fact the whole group is awful but they think they are great. Once Ben has the film done he presents it to brian and tom which the final product of the film turns out to be terrible but of course ben thinks it is great. That basically sums up our comedic short film.

The Production

The production process went a lot smoother than the pre-production but still not as smooth as we should of been doing. There were some days where we would goof around at times which caused us to get behind a little bit behind but overall as a whole we managed to stay on track. We filmed by location which I think is the most productive way of filming because you can get a decent amount of shots in just one location. That way you aren't running around the school filming a bunch of random shots so by filming in a specific location each time I thought was a very productive way of filming. It took about a full week to film our short film. All in all the production went alright considering all of our personalities I think we did a pretty good job making a decent short film.

Post Production

Now for the editing process which usually is my favorite part of making a short film. The editing process was actually fairly easy but I do wish I had a little bit more time to edit. I feel I could of edited the film a lot better and also be able to color correct. But given I could only edit for 2-3 days and had to stay after school, I didn't have all the time I needed to edit but I was still able to put out an okay short film. My favorite part by far with editing this short film was editing the commercial part of it because I got to add some crazy music and some crazy effects which is always super fun to do in any situation. Again overall I had a lot of fun filming and editing this film and I can't wait to make more in the future.

Carton Project

The Template Process
The template part of my project is definitely what took the longest and it was a struggle at first but once I get the hang of it, it started turning out better. The process took me a couple of weeks but I learned a lot from it!

The 3D Revolve Process
The 3D revolve process was a bit easier than the template and definitely was my favorite part to be able to see your work as a 3D box. It was something I have never done before and it was very cool. I will be able to use what I learned from this and use it in future projects I do.

Here is another 3D revolve of the product that goes inside the box

Emagine

Emagine was a great success and was a super fun experience. I enjoy going to Emagine  every year. It's an experience that other high schools don't get and I'm glad we have this opportunity to be able to go to this event every year! I can't wait to go next year.

Alyssa Writing Interview

Movie Poster- Into The Storm

This is my movie poster I made in Adobe Illustrator for the movie Into the Storm. I really like how this poster turned out. Although I did run into a few problems with the poster whether it was time or finding what to use for the poster.

First things first my time management was not very good for this project and I learned from that. I learned for next time I need to manage my time well because since I didn't I felt sort of rushed towards the end of the project. One thing I had much trouble with was the tornado. I started out trying to make the tornado myself and then using the twirl tool to give it a tornado effect but it ended up looking very weird. Next I tried to get an actual picture of a tornado but I couldn't find one that worked with the poster well. So running out of time I had to use clip art which honestly doesn't look that bad although I wish I had the time to figure out a way to make an actual tornado in Illustrator.

Overall this poster didn't turn that bad but there are things I definitely would of done differently to make this a better movie poster.
